Science Policy International Team
Qualifications: All who are interested may apply. Those who have previous experience with Science Policy or Science Policy related areas are especially encouraged to apply.

Resource Director:
With the rapid expansion of TTH’s innovative Science Policy program, the Resource Director plays the most crucial role in making helping all chapters establish strong Science Policy programs for the student population and the public. The Resource Director will compile information on effective programming for chapters worldwide. Using the material developed by the Resource Director, colleges will have an easier time implementing educational programming. The Resource Director is responsible for creating resources for chapters, including:
- creating a step-by-step packet on how to host a Science Cafe
- working closely with current policy leaders to determine the most effective way to hold Science Policy events
- translating past successes in Science Policy programming into informational packets for chapters to use
- compiling regional master lists of contact information
Project Development Director:
With its official introduction to TTH last year, Science Policy has been implemented within chapters in various creative methods. The Project Development Director will be working closely with chapters that already have well-established Science Policy programs to help them attain new goals, such as lobbying local policies, starting interdisciplinary internships, or hosting science panels. The Project Development Director must be innovative and creative in helping chapters make their programming ideas a reality by doing the following:
- searching for potential resources that could prove invaluable for chapters
- directing chapters to the correct resources, based on their unique needs
- maintaining a clear perspective on the practicality of programming ideas
- encouraging chapters to challenge their limits
- tracking a chapter’s progress regularly on their large-scale events
Outreach Director:
The Outreach Director will focus on educating the public about Science Policy through the power of the internet. Due to its accessibility, the internet is the perfect resource to reach the largest audience possible. The Outreach Director will create, organize, and maintain the Science Policy section of the newly-designed Triple Helix website. It will be dedicated to exploring the ethics, issues, and hot topics in Science Policy today. This will be a supplement for any high school outreach programs or Science Policy events that occur in the future. The Outreach Director will be a pioneer in bringing Science Policy to the public by:
- compiling audience-friendly resources in a variety of medias, including videos, articles, pictures, and web links
- answering any Science Policy-related questions that may be sent via e-mail
- posting local, national, and international Science Policy events
- maintaining the aesthetics of the Science Policy web section, and keeping it user-friendly
- facilitating and hosting live chat interviews with Science Policy panels
- learning basic web-maintenance skills (previous experience not necessary, but recommended)
Time Commitment for each position averages 8-10 hours per week.
International Editorial Board Open Positions
Open Positions for 2010: Business and Marketing Division

The following positions require dedication, innovation, confidence, communication skills, and business finesse. They provide the opportunity to represent TTH’s interests and strengths to a corporate, national, and global audience, while developing valuable business contacts and marketing skills in a real-world setting. The positions will be highly dependent on internal team-work and collaboration between divisions.
ADVERTISING ASSOCIATES
Are responsible for maintaining and updating our international advertising packet, contacting potential advertisers, and developing and executing new strategies to bring advertisers to our journal and website. This is be about a 4-6 hour weekly commitment.
Qualifications: All who are interested may apply.
GRANT ASSOCIATES
Are primarily responsible for the researching and writing of major national grants. Depending on the number of staff members we have working, this is be a 4-6 hour weekly commitment–the larger the staff, the fewer hours would be required.
Qualifications: Grant-writing experience is preferred, though not required.
CORPORATE RELATIONS ASSOCIATES
Are responsible for contacting and developing relationships and partnerships with national and global corporations to obtain sponsorship. They would be also responsible for maintaining and strengthening these relationships via exclusive internship programs, mentorship development, subscription programs, and regular communication. This is be a 4-6 hour weekly commitment.
Qualifications: Fundraising experience is preferred, though not required.

International Editorial Board
Senior Literary Editor (SLE)
The job of the Senior Literary Editor(s) will be to work with the Executive Editor in Chief on developing strategic vision for our content and managing the literary division (Editors in Chief and Associate Editors at each of our chapter universities). The SLE must set a vision for literary content for the chapters under his/her management, communicate that vision to the chapter editors and ensure that the vision is turned into reality through action. The SLE must ensure that chapter editors meet all deadlines and that all standards for quality, tone, focus and citation style as stipulated by the content guide are followed.
With The Triple Helix expanding internationally, the Literary Division faces both exciting prospects and unique challenges as we endeavor to produce a journal that examines interdisciplinary issues in science, society, and law that resonate throughout our global readership. Our SLEs are the key liason between individual chapters and the International Editorial Board (IEB), and therefore play an important role in adjusting our literary policy and improving our journal in response to feedback and experiences from around the world.
Time Commitment averages 6-8 hours per week with additional time needed during training and certain periods of the editing cycle. Specific tasks include:
Developing Content Vision: -Looking critically at our current Content Guide and developing potential new sets of article types (i.e. standard articles, brief articles, debate articles, policy papers, interviews, etc.) -Work with Executive Editor in Chief on thematic special features and a host of collaborative projects with other organizations— have the opportunity to lead and develop a new literary venture -Read both university and professional journals to obtain ideas to improve the Triple Helix -Getting feedback from current literary staff across chapters
Managing the Literary Division: -Reading weekly reports and responding to concerns -Reading and editing articles from chapters -Ensuring the observation of literary deadlines and quality standards -Facilitating communication between our chapter editorial staff and the International Editorial Board. Readily participating in weekly online staff conversations.
In addition to chapter management, there will be scope for individual projects that will appear in the print journal, leadership roles involving TTH sponsors and collaborators, and professional advancement within the organization.
